"The Arts School"

The Arts, at St. Lawrence Academy are invaluable to the individual growth of each of our students. Music, Visual Art and Drama, are a vital part of curriculum, adding richness in learning. The Academy’s choirs and instrumental ensembles take great pride in being awarded top honours for their performances at the Brockville Lion’s Music Festival as well as participating in many community events. Our students’ visual arts displays and artistic endeavors are truly inspirational, developing their creative spirits and delighting all who see them. They have been awarded locally and provincially for their artistic efforts and their masterpieces have been displayed in local galleries. We also offer extra-curricular artistic and musical opportunities throughout the year.

Private music lessons are available at the Academy in the disciplines of violin, guitar and piano. Lessons are based primarily on student interest and teacher availability, so, don’t be afraid to ask if you have always wanted to play the ukulele or bagpipes! We pride ourselves in being known as the arts school.

A Word From Our Arts Department

At St Lawrence Academy we pride ourselves in being known as "The Arts School”. As the classroom teacher for visual arts, music and drama, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the programs. I have taught piano, voice, guitar and theory, privately for twenty six years. As a professional artist I bring a broad knowledge of media and techniques to the classroom situation. Experience in working with several local theatrical companies has been invaluable, enabling me to be a dynamic and diverse drama teacher.

I so enjoy teaching at St. Lawrence Academy because of the small class size, the classrooms allotted for individual subject instruction and the dedicated staff. We have an inviting environment enabling students to direct their own learning in safe, nurturing surroundings.

“Art is unquestionably one of the purest and highest elements in human happiness. It trains the mind through the eye, and the eye through the mind. As the sun colors flowers, so does

art color life.”

- John Lubbock
